Project Rabbit - UX Case Study

Overview
Role: UX and UI Designer, Art Director
Company: Scriptic
Project Type: A mobile-first interactive drama designed for episodic storytelling through a realistic phone-based UI and 'future modern' police interface.
Challenges
-
Inconsistency in existing UX/UI was reducing player retention.
-
Narrative complexity made it difficult to unify design across multiple in-game “apps.”
-
Large volume of content necessitated a scalable and modular design system.
-
Project Rabbit had to blend legacy screens with new experiences seamlessly.
Objective
Establish a cohesive UX Style Guide to unify product experience, express the game's narrative tone, and ensure scalable, future-proof designs that also improve the usability of existing screens.

Approach
-
UX Design Iteration: Wireframes, navigation flows, layout rules
-
Research & Art Direction: Moodboards, visual language exploration
-
UI Visual Treatment: High-fidelity screens, narrative-aligned design
-
Documentation & Handoff: Developer-ready assets, usage guides
Solution
Developed a modular, scalable UX Style Guide that addressed inconsistencies, improved clarity for implementation, and harmonized the game’s narrative tone with expressive, immersive UI design. The guide supported both new and legacy features, serving as a single source of truth for future development.
Results
-
Developer implementation time was significantly reduced from 1 sprint (10 working days) per set of game screens down to 2 days, thanks to clear documentation, consistent components, and a cohesive visual system.
-
The project introduced a repeatable design system that could be retrofitted into the live product, creating the potential for improved long-term scalability and consistency.
-
The prototypes and flows helped uncover previously unnoticed navigation issues in the live product, providing value beyond the immediate project by informing future design decisions.
-
Although the project was not launched due to external business decisions, internal feedback from developers and designers indicated that the UX Style Guide significantly streamlined communication across teams, reducing ambiguity and speeding up collaboration.
